Find Art That Inspires You...

What do I mean by "Art That Inspires"?

I mean art that arouses one's emotions and raises your the spirits and exhilarates your senses every time you look at it.

Most of us have some form of art in our homes. If you look around I'm sure you'll find a few treasured pieces that fits in that category. It can be any kind of art, perhaps a family portrait or a painting you purchased or an original work created by a friend or relative. It could be pottery or a stained glass window, home decor or a piece of folk art you bought at the country fair.

But how do you know? Not every piece of art or decor can be an inspiration. Here's a great way to find out just what art or decoratives are truly "inspirational" in your life.

Pull your art and decoratives off the walls and furniture and begin to bring the ones you love together in a collection on the floor.

Then ask yourself, “What do all these images have in common?”

It may be a particular colour or texture, or the subject matter or how they all relate to a common theme, like family or nature. Identifying what you love will help you learn what inspires your choices. When I look around my home I see a definite maritime nautical theme. Just about every painting or picture I own is marine related. On my walls are boats and sailing ships, seascapes or fishing villages or landscapes with a river or brook running through it. Have good look at what is on your walls and furniture, you may be surprised at the results.

Now that you’ve identified the art and pieces that really inspire you, choosing and adding new elements will be a lot easier. All you have to do is remember what it was about your art and decor that inspired you.

Need some inspiration? Here's a great place to start.
